Two upgrade approaches are acquirable for upgrading from Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 to Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 which are (i) In-place upgrade and (ii) Database attach upgrade. In-place upgrade lets you move all the Microsoft SharePoint sites on the same hardware but the database approach lets you move your content to a new farm or a desperate hardware. In addition, you might reduce downtime by merging up the In-place and database-attach upgrade.
In place upgrade enables you to install SharePoint Server 2010 on the same hardware, preserves your farm settings and makes customizations acquirable after the upgrade. During the In-place upgrade, websites are acquirable after the upgrade process whereas, in database attach upgrade, you will be granted to upgrade content on a separate farm but you will not be healthy to upgrade any of the farm settings. You might upgrade multiple databases at the same time or upgrade them in any order that you want. This approach lets you combine several farms into a single farm. The database-attach approach is beneficial if you want to change your hardware or need to reconfigure your existing server farm topology during the upgrade process. With this approach, you detach the databases in your old farm and while you attach them to a new farm, the upgrade process runs and upgrades the entire database. This process is performed manually in a separate environment.
Plan your Upgrade Process
· In-place upgrade
The in-place upgrade is performed on the same hardware as your previous version installation. With this upgrade approach, you will be healthy to upgrade the complete installation in the following order.
· Run the Setup
As soon as the in-place upgrade process begins, the server administrator carries out the pre-upgrade checks, runs Setup for SharePoint Server 2010 on the server which runs the SharePoint Central Administration Website. As, the previous version has already been installed, the system selects the in-place upgrade automatically. After running the Setup on the server which hosts the Central Administration Web Site, the Server administrator can run the Setup on the Web servers and application servers in the farm.
· Run the SharePoint Configuration Wizard
SharePoint Configuration wizard is run on the server that hosts the Central Administration website. This upgrade approach grants the server, configuration database, services and the content databases to be upgraded sequentially. As soon as the configuration wizard finishes, the Central Administration Website opens. For the upgrade process to run for apiece site collection, it is allocated a particular timer job which is scheduled. Each site collection is upgraded with the upgrade process timer job and upgrades all the sites until the upgrade process completes.
· Run the Configuration Wizard on all the Server farms
Server administrator ensures and runs the configuration wizard on all the servers in the farm and confirms whether the upgrade has been performed successfully. Respective site owner or administrator can preview sites in the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 look in case of Visual Upgrade, or when the site owner is ready, he/she can finish the change to the SharePoint Server 2010 look.
Database attach Upgrade
You can move to a new farm or hardware with database attach approach. You will detach all content databases from a current farm and attach them to a new server farm installation. While attaching the databases to a new farm, your upgrade process runs to upgrade the data in-place.
· Set Up and Configure a new Server Farm
With database attach upgrade, the server administrator sets up and makes up a new SharePoint Server 2010 farm and transfers all customizations to the new farm. The new environment is also tested by the server administrator. With this approach, you will be upgrading the content of your environment but not the configuration settings.
· Detach the old content databases from the old farm and attach them to the new farm
Server administrator can detach the content databases from the old Office SharePoint Server 2007 farm and turns all the services and components on apiece server personal in the farm. The old farm is prefabricated offline by changing the load balancer or IIS Web applications to refrain service requests. Content databases are attached to the new farm and content is upgraded by the server administrator. Once the server administrator authenticates the completion of upgrade, then he/she resumes by configuring the new farm to begin serving the request to the new URL.
Hybrid Approach 1 for Read-only Databases
You can wage a read only access for the data to the users while you are attempting the upgrade process. Actually, the content databases in the original farm are set to read-only mode. Replicas of databases are also upgraded on the new farm.
· Configure a new SharePoint Server 2010 farm
Server administrator sets up your new SharePoint Server 2010 farm and transfers all customizations to the new farm while testing the environment.
· Change the content database to Read only
After changing the content databases to read-only, the administrator makes use of SQL Server to back up the content databases residing on the Office SharePoint Server 2007 farm and restore them to the new farm.
· Attach new content databases to the new farm
New duplicates of content databases are attached and the upgrade process is executed by the server administrators which simultaneously upgrades the content. Once the upgrade process is complete, it is verified by the server administrators. New farm is configured by the server administrator so that it would begin serving the requests at the new URL. The original farm is also taken offline.
Hybrid approach 2 for detach databases
Speed up your upgrade process by detaching and attaching databases to upgrade several databases at once with Hybrid approach 2. Although, it is an in place upgrade as you are upgrading the original farm but you can also use the other farm to carry out the upgrade and then attach the upgraded databases to the original farm. The original farm will not be healthy to serve requests during upgrade.
· Take the original farm offline
During the in-place upgrade with detached databases, the server administrator will take the original farm offline to stop service requests.
· Detach content database and run an in-place upgrade on the original farm
Server administrator will detach the content databases from the original farm and runs an in-place upgrade on the original farm servers, services and configuration database. After, this process, the content databases are attached to the original farm and the content is upgraded.
· Using a temporary small farm to run the upgrade
If you are using a small and different temporary farm for carrying out the upgrade process then you need to attach the upgraded databases to the original farm.
During an in-place upgrade with detached databases, the server administrator sets up a temporary and small farm which is currently running the new version. He/she takes the original farm offline and detaches the content database from the original farm. Once these are done, an in-place upgrade is run-on the original farm in order to upgrade the server, services along with configuration database. Afterwards, content databases are attached to the temporary farm and a parallel upgrade is performed. Content databases are reattached to the original farm and upgrade is confirmed by the administrator. The server administrator previews the sites in the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 look, if Visual upgrade is used and completes the change to the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 look.
Summary:
Carrying out your upgrade with in place or database attach approach can be both beneficial but all depending upon your business requirements. In-place approach can be beneficial as it preserves all your farm settings with the SharePoint Server 2010 installation. You don’t have to configure the farm settings manually. Your content databases will be upgraded sequentially. With database attach approach; you need to set up a new environment to host your SharePoint 2010 Server. Once your new setup is up and running, the old environment will be prefabricated offline and all content databases will be moved to newer locations and upgraded at the same time. With database attach upgrade approach; you will be successful in minimizing the down time as you will be upgrading several databases at once. Hybrid approaches including in-place upgrade with detached databases or database attach upgrade with read only databases help in decreasing the downtime of your environment and the end users will not experience prolonged time of interruption of services.

Technology Public Relations Firms Use Every Weapon to Give Their Clients a Leg up on The Competition
It seems that each generation has the capability to change the world. Some would state it is the duty of each single generation to do everything that they can possibly think of to make the world a superior place. More often than not, nine times out of ten, this reached through the use of technology. Social and other types of advances are few and far between these days, and simply do not have the reach, power, and scope of many different types of technological advances. Each major development in the history of the human races was nearly undoubtedly preceded by a major technological advancement that prefabricated it doable for change to occur. This is one of the most exciting aspects of life on planet Earth. One never knows what is right around the corner.
Each single time a technological advance has served to shape how people interact with one another, there have been years of research that prefabricated that particular advancement possible. Technological research takes time, and should not be rushed at all, less the calibre of work suffers and sub- par product is produced. Research is also very expensive, which is why so many corporate entities have to fund it. They are hoping that their research will result in the next Model- T so they can get a patent on whatever new advancement is produced, and can make a boat load of money on it. So the reasons behind technological advancements are not always altruistic. Many research companies are in business to make money, and certainly not to promote the common good. However, this is often the end result regardless of the individuals intentions. So this is why so many technological research companies employ the services of a highly skilled and fully eligible technology public relations firm. It is the hope of these research firms that the highly skilled and fully eligible technology public relations firm that they hire can give them all the help they need in controlling how information about that particular research company’s product is disseminated through the general public.
A good technology public relations firm has to ensure that their clients retain a positive reputation. This is the only way they can hope to achieve their goal of continued scientific research. These companies might not want to think about the exploits as a for profit business, but that is precisely what they are, whether or not they realize and whether or not they want to admit it to themselves. Technology public relations firms have to play up all the good their clients’ research does for the human race, while simultaneously downplaying any negative or sordid details regarding the research process. This is totally essential because if they do not control the bad press, then people will not trust the research company to do calibre work. Therefore, a highly skilled and fully eligible technology public relations firm has to think carefully about what plan of action to take to ensure that they can wage for their clients’ need in a timely and cost efficient manner.
One of the most favourite ways a highly skilled and fully eligible technology public relations firm can get its message crossways is through extensive use of radio, television, and print interviews advocating the many benefits that can be reaped through technological research. Technology public relations firms have to think carefully about their wording, so information can be easily repeated and passed on, allowing their message to get across.

Designing Database Tables – Part 16
Division 2
Introduction
This is part 16 of my series Designing Database Tables. I adopt that you have read all the different parts of the series up to this point. In this part of the series we see how to determine a primary key for an entity. Remember, an entity is a plateau that is already normalized. It is a plateau that is in at least the 3NF. So you can assign a primary key to it without any problem as explained below.
Note: If you can't see the code or if you think anything is missing (broken link, image absent), just contact me at forchatrans@yahoo.com. That is, contact me for the slightest problem you have about what you are reading.
Primary Key
A primary key is a column whose values uniquely refer apiece row in the table. The word, “Unique”, means that there are no two values in the column that have the same value. Each value is different in the column. So, after creating the normalized tables, you go on to indistinguishability such a column in the plateau as the primary key.
If you can't see such a single column, then you have to look for multiple columns whose combined values will uniquely refer apiece row in the plateau (entity). Assume that you have seen two of such columns, for apiece row in the table, the combination of the cell values from the two columns should not repeat itself anywhere again in the two columns. The values can repeat, but not the combination. Each of those combinations, uniquely refer a row in the table. Such multiple columns are called a composite primary key.
If for some reason you are not satisfied with what you think should be a key, and you are sure that the plateau is normalized, then create a new column and place one-of-a-kind values in the column. You can place numbers such as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc or 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, etc.
By convention, the primary key or primary composite key is the first column (or columns), on the left of the table.
Step 5: Determining Primary Keys
In step 5 of the design process, you determine the primary key for apiece table. The tables for the example are:
Products(ProductID, Category, Number, CostPrice SellingPrice)
Sales(SaleID, Date, EmployeeID, CustomerID)
Suppliers(SupplierID, Address, City, State, Country, Phone)
Customers(CustomerID, Address, City, State, Country, Phone)
SaleDetails(SaleID, ProductID, SoldPrice)
Orders(OrderID, Date, EmployeeID, SupplierID)
OrderDetails(OrderID, ProductID, BoughtPrice, Discount)
Employee(EmployeeID, Address, City, State, Country, Phone)
In the Products table, the primary key is ProductID. In the Sales table, the primary key is SaleID. Here, EmployeeID is not a key; it will be a foreign key (see later). In the Suppliers table, SupplierID is the primary key. In the Customers table, CustomerID is the primary key.
In the SaleDetails table, you have a composite key prefabricated up of SaleID and ProductID. In the Orders table, OrderID is the primary key and EmployeeID here will be a foreign key (see later). In the OrderDetails table, you have a composite key, which are OrderID and ProductID.
In the Employee table, the primary key is EmployeeID. Here the EmployeeID column uniquely identifies all the rows in the table. It is a primary key here; in the Sales and Orders table, it is a foreign key (see later).
The Primary Key Values
What kind of value should go for our keys? For simplicity, just place counting numbers for the keys. So the first row for the product plateau will have the value, 1 for ProductID in its first row, 2 for ProductID in its second row, 3 for ProductID in its third row, and so on. The first row for the Sales plateau will have the value, 1 for SaleID in its first row, 2 for SaleID in its second row, 3 for SaleID in its third row, and so on. The values for the composite primary key of the saleDetails plateau will be read from the Products and Sales table. Apply the same reasoning to the other tables.
That is it for this part of the series; we continue in the next part with step 6, which is the last step in the plateau creation process.

Technology is defined as making usage of tools, crafts, knowledge, skills, systems, methods of organisation to solve a problem or serve sum purpose. But in this 21st century, it seems technology is solving all our problems and always serving a purpose.
How often have you heard you or your friends complaining they have become ‘handicap’ because they are not carrying their cellphones with them that day. Or a day when they are bored to death because the telegram (or the new set-top box) of the television is not functioning.
Technology has affected society and its surroundings in a number of ways. In many societies, technology has helped develop more advanced economies(including today’s global economy) and has granted the rise of a leisure class.
Various implementations of technology influence the values of a society and new technology often raises new ethical questions. Examples include the rise of the notion of efficiency in terms of human productivity, a term originally applied only to machines, and the challenge of traditional norms.
The gadgets that we use in our each day life has prefabricated us so dependent on them that we can’t go one hour without using a gadget in some way or the other. This has lead to many conservatives to believe that the frequent usage of technology and machines has reduced the usage of their brains in normal day to day functions. Capability to perform mental mathematical calculations has greatly reduced because the calculators perform all the calculations. This and many more instances like this has what lead some people to believe that with the rise in technology the capability of humans to think for themselves has deteriorated.
However holding technology solely responsible for the this decrement would be incorrect. Our own ignorance and cognizant dependence on technology can also be the contributing factors. With technology only going to advanced further in the days to come, it is we who have to change our attitudes. Making a conscious effort to keep our minds active and not letting the new age gadgets and inventions to control us.
Technology is suppose to be a luxury and not a dependency. With a deliberate effort to keep your mind engaged and yourself sharp, technology dependency can be kept at bay. This arrangement grants to have a harmonious relationship with the technology which you control and explore with your own agile brain.
satellite Playout services services begin in December 2000. satellite Playout services enables broadcasters to wage high-definition TV (HDTV) service with advanced audio coding (AAC) digital surround sound or multicasting of three standard-definition TV (SDTV) programs.satellite Playout services, there are a number of ways to implement the service. To start, think about that you will need satellite related equipment at both the source and destination ends of the broadcast. The primary use of satellite broadcasting is typically to transmit one party’s message to many and therefore the “source-end” equipment is likely to be needed only for one location while the “destination” equipment might be needed at many locations. The digital terrestrial TV broadcasts have also the high picture and sound calibre of digital high definition (Hi-Vision) and captivating interactive features. Data broadcasting in Asian characters provides information plain to apiece locality.
The digital terrestrial broadcasts are received by UHF antenna. Satellite broadcast to take place, the point of origin must transmit a signal to a satellite that it then relays back to Earth. One method to transmit the signal to a satellite is for an uplink truck equipped with audio and video control equipment, transmitters, and a satellite uplink dish, to transmit the source signal to a geo-synchronous orbiting satellite.

If you’re comfortable with writing SQL statements, remember that you can alter the statement SCR sends to the database server. Modifying the SQL statement can have dramatic impacts on the speed at which data returns from the server. The SQL statement that SCR generates is ANSI standard and not specific to any database. Thus, SCR attempts to do more of the work on your local organisation versus doing the work on the SQL server (which is more efficient). If you’re comfortable with modifying the SQL directly, please do so. You’ll find that expressions can be added and your organisation does less work.
Recently, I demonstrated this tip to a massive company. A easy report using the ANSI SQL ran in eight minutes. After modifying the SQL statement and moving the formulas from the Choose Expert to the actual SQL statement, the report ran in one minute! When using the ANSI SQL created by SCR, nearly 200,000 records were returned from the database, but the report only displayed 1,400 records. After modifying the SQL statement, the report brought back just the 1,400 records needed in far less time.
Now In Version 8, you can edit the SQL manually and also alter the Choose Expert, and SCR will use both In record selection! However, this can get confusing because SCR doesn’t always show all of the updates in the Show SQL Query, in past versions; this was something to watch out for.
Another helpful tip is to reset the SQL statement back to the ANSI standard If your manual efforts create errors. To do this open the Show SQL Query window and click on the reset button. For more Information on editing SQL directly, “Using SQL in Crystal Reports”

ATM Origins and Development
During development of the standards for the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), in the mid 1980s, the goals were to create a unified networking strategy that could act as an all-round transport system for real-time video and audio as well as for image, text and email. ATM is pretty much a “Jack-of-all-trades” transport system. The two groups primarily responsible for the development of the ATM standards were the International Telecommunications Union [ITU 2004] and the ATM Forum [ATM 2004]
Implementations – Over time we have seen that the majority of implementations and uses that ATM has fulfilled have been primary concerned with telephony and IP networks. Ethernet and the World wide web Protocol (IP) are packet-switched network technologies that use packets of variable size referred to as frames.
Circuit-Switched – In marked contrast; ATM is a connection-oriented, Data Link Layer (OSI Reference Model Layer 2), circuit-switched, cell relay prescript that runs over Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) Physical Layer (OSI Reference Model Layer 1) links using cells of same and never varying size. Consistent predictability is the underlying ethos here.
Connection-Oriented – Being a connection-oriented channel-based technology means that ATM must always establish a “logical” connection between the two endpoints prior to commencement of data exchange.
Uniform Cell Size – Significantly, ATM encodes data traffic into small uniform fixed-sized cells. ATM cells are always 53 bytes in size and are comprised of 48 bytes of data and 5 bytes of header information.
Benefits of Using Small Fixed Size Cells
The major benefits derived from using small data cells were a reduction in queue delay and jitter; particularly in multiplexing data streams. By using small, fixed-sized cells ATM is healthy to transport massive data files all the while maintaining minimal queuing delays. Minimal queuing delays are essential to the delivery of voice/video communications.
Queue Delay – Queue delay related issues include problems associated with end-to-end-round-trip delays and delay variance particularly when carrying voice traffic. High traffic volumes and/or congested networks along with the arrival variance associated with variable route routing are among the main causes of queue delay issues.
Jitter – Even though jitter results from queuing delay issues deviations or displacement of various aspects of high frequency pulses such as amplitude, phase timing and signal pulse width as a direct result of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and crosstalk (noise) also cause jitter. Think of jitter as being the production of “jerky” results or in video applications flicker. By using small fixed-size cells ATM is healthy to overcome the effects of queue delay as well as other types/sources of jitter.
Multi Purpose Transport Protocol – Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) carries many different data types and formats (text, audio, video, graphics, pictures etc.) from a multitude of sources and of variable sizes. When combined with standard queuing strategies, maximum queuing delays were common. This is completely objectionable where voice and real-time video traffic is concerned.
Compression/Decompression Algorithms (Codecs)
Time – The nature of time as we humans perceive it is an analogue continuum (that is to state time is a linear progression). Once past, there is no way as yet to recover the loss.
Jitter and Queue Delay – Jitter and queue delay are of great importance because of the nature and manner of operation of the compression/decompression (codec) algorithms used in the conversion of a digitalized data stream back into an analogue audio signal. This conversion process (digital-to-analogue) is very much a “real-time, on-the-fly” process and is more attuned to” just-in-time” transport protocols.
Real-Time Streaming – In order to produce reliable, consistently “acceptable” output the codec needs the data items (the digitized voice data) to be presented to it in a predictable, regulated and evenly spaced in time data stream, hence the term “real-time streaming”.
Late Arrivals – If the data arrives after its allotted position/reception window in the time sequence (relating to that part of the data-stream) the codec will simply drop it. Not surprisingly this is objectionable for IP telephony. Remember to keep in mind that time is analogue in nature and once a “time window” elapses, the “lost” time becomes unrecoverable.
Codec Packet Handling Options – If the transport prescript is unable to present the data as and when the codec anticipates it, the codec, has no choice but to adopt either silence, make a “best guess” or simply drop the packet. Any way is objectionable where voice is concerned as the conversation rapidly becomes untenable and the message does not get through.
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Deployment Indicators and Scenarios
ATM WAN Core Implementation – ATM production environment implementations have over time evidenced to be very successful in the Wide Area Network (WAN) scenarios. Numerous telecommunication providers and World wide web Service Providers (ISPs) have implemented ATM in their Wide Area Network (WAN) cores.
Slow Links – For slow links less than 2M-bit/s, ATM still makes sense, which is why many ADSL systems use ATM as an intermediate layer between the physical link layer and a Layer 2 prescript like PPP or Ethernet.
Linear Audio and Video Streams – Interest in using native ATM for carrying live video and audio has increased recently. It is in these environments, where ATM can deliver the low latency and very high Quality of Service (QoS) required for handling linear audio and video streams.
Gigabit Ethernet – This day we are finding that for both new WAN implementations and for existing WAN implementation upgrades, high speed, high performance Ethernet (Gigabit Ethernet, 10Gbit Ethernet, and Metro Ethernet etc.) are rapidly replacing ATM as the technology of choice.
Relative Performance – At the time ATM was designed, 155Mbit/s (135Mbit/s payload) over fiber-optic telegram was very fast in comparison to the other carrier/transport technologies acquirable at the time. Since then however; these other technologies have evolved and are now considerably faster than they once were.
Jitter – Today; a 1,500 byte (12,000 bit) full-size Ethernet packet takes only 1.2 µs to transmit crossways a 10Gbit/s optical network. With this sort of speed, jitter is no longer the issue it once was. By overcoming the potential adverse effects of jitter through this ramping up of network transfer speeds we have at the same time removed the need for using small uniform cells to overcome jitter.
Complexity - Unfortunately, due to ATM’s complexity it evidenced to be unsuitable for deployment in many of the scenarios that its creators had originally intended.
Converged Networks – The speed and traffic shaping stipulations of many converged networks are also proving to be very challenging for ATM.
